Strategies / Comments
I. Approach
The ORSCC’s approach to implementing green procurement is to target the use of PWGSC procurement instruments and the delivery of training to key personnel. The inclusion of green procurement objectives in the employee performance evaluation of the functional head of procurement is included in the ORSCC’s approach for 2014-15.
II. Management Processes and Controls
The ORSCC uses PWGSC procurement instruments as its primary procurement mechanism and leverages the environmental considerations incorporated into these standing offers by PWGSC.
Furthermore:
- The ORSCC continues to inform managers of the environmental impact when considering procurement options.
- This fiscal year, a statement was included in the procurement request form to remind management of buying green.
- The ORSCC follows the Federal Electronic Waste Strategy for the disposal of surplus electronic and electrical equipment (EEE) through programs such as Computers for Schools (CFS) and Crown Assets Distribution Directorate (CADD).
