The applicant was at a bar. There was an altercation. The applicant was charged with aggravated assault. The victim sustained injuries to his face and ultimately to his liver and spleen. The injuries were life threatening, requiring surgical intervention, a lengthy hospital stay and a slow recovery. The applicant was convicted of aggravated assault. The conviction appeal was dismissed.
