Summary

Case summaries are prepared by the Office of the Registrar of the Supreme Court of Canada (Law Branch). Please note that summaries are not provided to the Judges of the Court. They are placed on the Court file and website for information purposes only.

Mr. Parikh settled a claim in the Court of Queen’s Bench of Alberta against Red-L Distributors Ltd. for wrongful dismissal and discontinued the proceeding. He subsequently sought a trial date and to set aside the discontinuance. He applied for an extension of time to file a Notice of Appeal. He also filed a Notice of Appeal from an interlocutory order in the wrongful dismissal proceedings that had required him to amend his Statement of Claim. A chambers judge of the Court of Appeal of Alberta denied an extension of time. The chambers judge denied leave to appeal from the denial of an extension of time.
