Summary
Case summaries are prepared by the Office of the Registrar of the Supreme Court of Canada (Law Branch). Please note that summaries are not provided to the Judges of the Court. They are placed on the Court file and website for information purposes only.
A civil jury found that Mr. Hinder punched Mr. Pullano but no injury was caused. The jury found no entitlement to aggravated or punitive damages. Mr. Pullano asked the trial judge to award nominal damages for battery and to find Magna International Inc. and Stronach Consulting Corp. vicariously liable. The trial judge declined to award nominal damages. The Court of Appeal dismissed an appeal from the decision denying nominal damages and in respect to costs.
