Summary

Case summaries are prepared by the Office of the Registrar of the Supreme Court of Canada (Law Branch). Please note that summaries are not provided to the Judges of the Court. They are placed on the Court file and website for information purposes only.

The applicant, Mr. Grenier, brought a motion for an extension of time to file an application for leave for judicial review with the Federal Court. The decision to which the application relates is the summary of file No. 40016 posted on the website of the Supreme Court of Canada. The summary concerns Mr. Grenier’s application for leave to appeal that was dismissed by the Court on May 12, 2022. The Federal Court dismissed Mr. Grenier’s motion, as it was of the view that it would not be in the interests of justice to grant an extension of time in the circumstances. The Federal Court of Appeal dismissed Mr. Grenier’s appeal. It noted that the decision to grant or deny an extension of time fell squarely within the Federal Court’s discretion. It found no error in the court’s decision that would warrant its intervention.
