(PUBLICATION BAN IN CASE)

A complainant alleged that she and Mr. Ammar engaged in numerous sexual encounters when she was aged 15 and 16 years old and worked as an employee at a pizza business he operated with his spouse. Mr. Ammar was charged with sexual interference, sexual exploitation and possession of child pornography. Notwithstanding that Mr. Ammar’s spouse and a witness gave evidence that was inconsistent with the complainant’s evidence, and there were significant and substantial frailties in the complainant’s evidence that undermined her credibility and reliability, the trial judge convicted Mr. Ammar of sexual interference and sexual exploitation and acquitted him of possession of child pornography. The Court of Appeal dismissed an appeal.
