Summary

Keywords

Judgments and orders — Declaratory judgments — Whether lower courts erred — Whether application for leave to appeal raises question of public importance.

Summary

Case summaries are prepared by the Office of the Registrar of the Supreme Court of Canada (Law Branch). Please note that summaries are not provided to the Judges of the Court. They are placed on the Court file and website for information purposes only.

The applicant, Coherent and Concerted Civilization, through a declaration, pursues the following objective: [TRANSLATION] “Put an end to the stupidity and useless and endemic suffering of humanity (that is: wars, homicides, rapes, crime, poverty, intimidation, the threat of nuclear arsenals, etc.) through coherence and consultation”.

The Federal Court concluded that the declaration had to be struck out without leave to amend it to make it comply. The pleading was frivolous and vexatious. The Federal Court of Appeal found that the applicant did not raise any reviewable error. It was of the opinion that the appeal was doomed to fail.
