In October 2019, the respondent, the Royal Bank of Canada, sued the applicant, Suzanne J. Tremblay, for reimbursement of a demand loan and other credit facilities. The total amount claimed by the respondent, excluding interest, was $251,236.10, which the applicant acknowledged owing. The applicant filed a counter-application seeking a total of approximately $335,000. The trial judge allowed the respondent’s application and ordered the applicant to pay the respondent the total sum of $251,236.10, plus interest. He dismissed the applicant’s counter application. The applicant appealed the decision and the respondent filed a motion to dismiss the appeal. The Court of Appeal granted the respondent’s motion and dismissed the appeal.
