Summary

Mr. Suppiah was found sitting in a bedroom with the body of his deceased wife nearby. He appeared to be intoxicated. A post-mortem report indicated that his wife had suffered trauma to her neck and chest, several broken ribs, and a lacerated liver which caused internal bleeding. The trial judge held that there had been no dispute that Mr. Suppiah’s wife bled to death from the laceration to her liver and the laceration was the result of blunt force trauma to her chest and abdomen. Mr. Suppiah was convicted of manslaughter. The Court of Appeal dismissed an application for an extension of time to appeal.
