(PUBLICATION BAN IN CASE)
At a shopping mall, Mr. Patron confronted the complainant, an off-duty police officer, and his companion about the propriety of their being associated with each other given their differing ancestries or nationalities. Mr. Patron was convicted by a jury of criminal harassment and failure to comply with a probation order. He was sentenced to time served, probation, a firearms prohibition and a DNA-sample order. The Federal Court of Appeal did not accept a notice of appeal for filing. The Court of Appeal for Saskatchewan dismissed Mr. Patron’s appeal from his convictions and sentence.
