A woman was shot with a crossbow by an assailant who was never identified or apprehended. Her ex-boyfriend, Mr. Jaggernauth, was charged with attempted murder and counselling to commit murder. The Crown’s case is circumstantial. The evidence includes police officers’ testimony describing observations of Mr. Jaggernauth before he was informed of the offence. Police officers opined that they considered Mr. Jaggernauth’s conduct to be counter-surveillance efforts. Mr. Jaggernauth was convicted of attempted murder and counselling to commit murder. The Court of Appeal dismissed an appeal.
