The applicant spent two years as a student in the Medical Microbiology Residency Program at the University of Alberta. After failing three clinical rotations and two remedial rotations, the program required her to withdraw from residency. The applicant unsuccessfully exhausted all internal academic appeals. Next, the applicant applied for judicial review of the decision of the General Faculties Council Academic Appeal Committee, which confirmed the termination of the applicant’s medical residency due to deficient academic performance in the Medical Microbiology program. The applicant’s application for judicial review and appeal were both dismissed.
