Visit Schedule

The Supreme Court of Canada is visiting Winnipeg to hear two appeals and meet with Manitobans. It is part of the Court’s continued commitment to increasing access to justice, and is the first time in history that the Court will sit outside of Ottawa.

Monday, September 23

  • Supreme Court of Canada & Manitoba Court of Appeal judges meet local high school students (2 p.m.)
  • Reception hosted by Mayor of Winnipeg (late afternoon)

  • Chief Justice meets with Executive members of the Law Society of Manitoba and the Manitoba Bar Association (morning)
  • SCC judges meet with the First Nations community: Grand Chief Dumas of the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs (9:15 a.m.)
  • SCC judges meet with the francophone community (10:45 a.m.)
  • SCC judges meet with the Métis community: David Chartrand, President of the Manitoba Métis Federation and the 22 members of his caucus (12:05 p.m.)
  • SCC judges meet with University of Manitoba law students (afternoon)
