Chief Justice remarks for the occasion of the last sitting at 301 Wellington Street before the temporary move of the Court

Today’s hearing marked an important milestone in the Court’s history: this was the last sitting in the iconic courtroom at 301 Wellington Street for a very long time.

As the building prepares to close at the end of the summer for extensive rehabilitation, the Court will resume hearings this fall in the West Memorial Building.

Chief Justice Richard Wagner delivered brief remarks to mark the occasion. He also offered warm wishes to Justice Sheilah L. Martin ahead of her retirement from the Supreme Court of Canada at the end of the month.
